Winter Solstice 2016: Time to regenerate?

Wednesday December 21st 2016- The Sun moves into Capricorn as the Winter Solstice occurs in the Northern Hemisphere (Summer in the Southern Hemisphere).

Astrologically, we have a few standouts: As the Sun moves from the critical degree of Sagittarius and into Capricorn, we have Saturn in Sagittarius. Saturn is helping us this Solstice, it is good to have it it Sag this time around. The combination of the two gives us some steady feet to go on this internal adventure. Sag is optimistic and Capricorn is not always so. Saturn rules Capricorn (as well as Aquarius), so its effect is amplified when the Sun is in a planet that it rules. Capricorn can be relentless, it is cardinal Earth, so this is a time to move into the last pieces of internal work (have you felt it this past few months?) with gusto. Yes, it is almost Christmas, it is Yule, but there is still a little work to do!

With Mercury in retrograde now, the karmic lessons or pearls of inner wisdom might be shouting at you over the next few days. In fact, with three things in Capricorn, three things in cardinal earth,  we may find that we find that inner strength that e didn’t know we had to get us through it- thank goodness! With Jupiter and the Moon in Libra, we may feel that things aren’t as fair as they should be (which they aren’t, to be fair).

So, enjoy the Winter Solstice, enjoy Yule. It can be a time for reflection often, but I think this year may be giving a few surprises, before we can do that. Try and look for the positive in these things- it won’t all be good or all be bad.  Change has been a theme of 2016. Some has been good, some has seemed very, very bad- but most of that is down to the not knowing of the ending of the situation(s).

A Solstice Ritual

stonehenge-at-sunrise2If you get the time, time to yourself,  it is a good idea to open your energy to the Solstice.

This is a time to meditate or breathe with the intent of looking within. Look within to find that spark, that inner spark that connects you with the universe. If you can focus on that bright spark, let it rise, let it rise up until it fills your entire body and aura. Let it stay with you- you don’t need all the sunshine today- you are your own sun. Once it has filled you completely, allow it to stay for a while, before letting it return to its normal level.

As you let it go, imagine yourself releasing to the blinding light- all those things that have held you back (in whatever way) and affirm to yourself – “No-thing can stop my growth, no-thing is stopping my growth, I am enough, I am me, I am all that I need to be”

Imagine those things leaving your physical body and aura as you let them go. Take a deep breath or two- and smile.

This is a time to immerse yourself in the divine spark, which will help you with letting go of anything still hanging on that needs to go, so a brighter, better you can see this year out and see in 2017.

I’ll blog more about what the inner work is all about, from my point of view. For now, have a happy solstice and here’s to more transformation in 2017 🙂

Injoy, inlight and inlove
