The Autumn (or fall) 2025 brings us some interesting retrogrades for the mid-outer planets. A season beginning on 1 September and running all the way through the end of the year and into 2026.
These retrogrades are particularly prominent as a collective as there are some big transitions. Although the smaller/closer planets transit through signs weekly or monthly (or every couple of days in the Moon’s case), those that are slower and far away from our perspective, linger in signs for a very long time. For example, Pluto’s 248 year elliptical orbit averages 20 years in a sign although it is not an equal split.
Although other planets are going retrograde, such as Mercury (oh goody!), I wanted to focus on the bigger planetary influencers out there. It’s a bigger picture focus.
Saturn retrograde in Pisces (out of Aries) 1 September – approx 13 September 2026
Saturn’s retrograde in Aries is challenging the self and the rules created for and against us. Aries leads with the head. The focus shifts when Saturn retrogrades back into Pisces. Pisces is not like Aries at all! Saturn in Pisces influences you (if willing) to be more authentic and focus on soulful and spiritual work to find a greater meaning in things. Saturn is a controller, paternal ruler and in Pisces is actually not quite itself (or maybe the real, real Saturn?!) The opportunity of greater learning and development is offered in this retrograde, that will help movement in the primary sign of Aries.
Uranus retrograde in Gemini 6 September- approx 07 November 2025/ In Taurus 8 November to February 2026
Uranus is the awakening planet and has been in the sign of the bull since approximately 2019. Taurus has been stuck in the mud (i.e. stubborn) and reuses to shift stances somewhat. The openly communicative Gemini energy opened up the awakener’s mindset. Retrograde in Gemini is this first part of the journey to double-check you are picking up what you need to guide you onwards. Gemini is the set of twins and can provide us with competing paths or wants/needs. The path you are on, have chosen is not necessarily the right one for you going forward and you are asked to check in with that.
However, the movement back into Taurus gives us the final degrees again and challenges us on the Taurus-Scorpio axis. This provides us with the time to challenge our belief systems, the patterns of work that no longer serve us, this is about learning lessons from everything going on in the last six years, before we move forward with a longer time in Gemini. Taurus wants comfort and stability, but the airiness of Gemini will challenge your value system and what is really important to you.
Neptune retrograde in Pisces 22 October 2025 – approx 26 January 2026
Neptune retrograding back into Pisces is the last chance to learn from that placement. Neptune moved into Aries, to give us back our heads! Neptune in Pisces started in 2011 and it has covered the entire shifting through 2012 and beyond. In Pisces, the visionary planet can guide us into our dreams, but the danger is to live through illusion. This could be sleepwalking into a surveillance state, to believe that a certain group is particularly good or bad, to find a new messiah or to become a messiah yourself. Aries brings a degree of “oh shit, what was that, really?” moments where the veil falls. This retrograde back into Pisces is a final dreamwalk, the final reality check for you, before moving into Aries again and leading your own charge. Take time to be prescient, show discernment with this.
Jupiter retrograde in Cancer 11 November 2025 – 10 March 2026
Jupiter, the planet of luck and fortune, will be retrograde in Cancer. This centres around you, the home and family interactions. As in some ways you make your own luck, with the words you say and the actions you take, the crab scuttles onwards with care. Jupiter’s luck requires care, self-care for you, nourishment and attention in the home and/or family settings. Keep yourself and others safe and then the forward motion through 2026 of Jupiter from Cancer and into Leo can flourish. This retrograde challenge is to ensure you are sowing seeds for prosperity around the home and the family and individually. This may mean you need to step away from some individuals to be able to do this, but that does not not necessarily mean dumping troubles souls when times get tough. It is another sign that introspection and intuitive development, as indeed love and care as always are needed.
Pluto retrograde in Aquarius (since May 2025- 14 October 2025)
Pluto in Aquarius is themed around mechanisms of control, power structures and revolution through technology. The retrograde gives us another viewpoint or insight into what we have been experiencing. Pluto represents a generational shift and although the change is slow, the transit from heady Capricorn into the bringer of change, Aquarius is a much needed one. In the 18th Century it was around the time of revolution in the United States. In 1532-1553, Europe was to put it mildly experiencing change! (corresponding with a Neptune in Pisces/Aries transition).
The retrograde is centred on challenging change and what benefits us all. We are currently feeling challenges around government control, AI takeovers, corporate greed and the mismanagement and misdirection over finances. Technology is getting overly and unnecessarily controlling. Do we really need to download an app and pay a subscription to run the dishwasher? Should we own our purchases? Should we hold the correct people accountable instead of targetting the scapegoats?
Pluto is there to show us what we need to bring about change, to guide us. This retrograde is giving a different viewpoint, a time to be introspective and honest with how we all got here and where we should go from now on.
Minor Grand Trine of Uranus, Jupiter and Pluto (approx from July 2025 and June 2028)
This minor grand trine means that there is a common goal influenced by the planets. The placement is a good sign for those looking to expand and develop. Goals are achievable, changes is possible and there is positivity and hope when you are looking for it.
The overall themes of the retrogrades/bigger planet influences
You may have been experiencing tough times, hardship and mental overload. These retrogrades give an opportunity to step back, take stock and really look at where we are headed. The retrogrades give these opportunities to reflect, to learn a lesson or two, to develop ourselves. 2025 is a marker point and although many predictions have not come to light, there has been a certain darkness, a controller or manipulator energy abound. There is so much to learn from here. Control comes from a position of power and it is often abused. Those that take power are often unable to truly wield it in the proper way as they are not grounded enough. The collective positive conscious will can shift into a much better place. Change as always, starts with us. Let us fix ourselves and those around us and grow into something better. By subtly standing in our own power we can bring about change. One dove at a time. The movements are there and now is the time to move on, positively.
